Greater Madison County Federation of Labor awards students scholarships for RTW essays

East Alton, IL – The Greater Madison County Federation of Labor gave two $1,500 scholarships in the 24th Annual John A. Broyers/Jack Greer Memorial Scholarship competition this year. One of the winners, Kenzy Probst, accepted her certificate at the Federation meeting on June 22 from Federation President B. Dean Webb. She said she plans to study business at the University of Missouri. Her father, Neil, is a member of United Steel Workers (USW) Local 50. The other winner was Brooke Frank, whose father Robert is a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 649. She was at a college orientation the night of the presentation. Entrants were asked to write an essay on the effects of so-called “right-to-work” on wages and working conditions. – Labor Tribune photo
