The Coalition of Labor Union Women will hold its 19th biennial national convention Sept. 6-9 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center in Detroit. The theme for this year’s convention is “Women: Taking It to the Streets!”

The women’s movement and the Labor Movement are facing some of the biggest challenges in history with battles on every front. The convention will be an opportunity to form strong coalitions to fight back the forces trying to diminish both movements’ power and eliminate gains women and Labor have struggled to achieve.

The convention will include a variety of workshops, dynamic speakers and inspiring sessions. Additionally, delegates to the convention will be setting policies for the organization’s future through resolutions and constitutional amendments and electing national officers and executive board members for four-year terms.

Delegates must be regular national CLUW members in good standing by July 24. Associate members who support CLUW but are not union members are not eligible to vote. However, they may attend the convention as observers and participate in all activities.

The early registration fee is $250 for regular members, $125 for retirees and members under 35 and $75 for students. Registrations received after Aug. 4 will incur an additional $50 fee. Hotel room rates are $142 a day plus tax.
