Granite City, IL – The Greater Madison County Federation of Labor’s annual Labor Day Parade stepped off Sept. 4, at Niedringhaus Avenue and 18th Street, culminating with the annual picnic for union members and their families at Wilson Park.

The parade had a collective marshal – President Jeff Rains and members of the Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees (SOAR) Chapter 7-34-2 — including marchers and a contingent riding in a decorated bus.

After the parade, at Wilson Park, Federation organizers set up a collection truck for people to drop off nonperishable food items to help laid-off union steelworkers idled at the U.S. Steel plant in Granite City.   All Labor Tribune photos
