Missouri Women in Trades (MOWIT), a non-profit group dedicated to helping women enter and succeed in the building trades, is hosting its 2nd Annual Tradeswomen Awards Gala on Friday, Oct. 30.

The event, which will be held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. via Facebook Live and Zoom. It will include the award ceremony and  shout outs to new apprentices and those who have journeyed out into their trade.

Last year’s inaugural Blue Collar/Black Tie Tradeswomen Awards Gala sold out with some 400 people in attendance. The black-tie optional event was held at Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 Grand Hall in St. Louis.

Since this year’s event is just one day away from Halloween, it will be called the Boo Collar/Black Tie Tradeswomen Awards Gala. Participants are encouraged to join in costume, and there will be a costume contest.

“This year has been like no other with the coronavirus pandemic,” said MOWIT President Beth Barton. “But we still wanted to recognize the hard work and achievements of area tradeswomen and honor unions, contractors and industry members who have gone the extra mile.”
