Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 is teaming up with some of its contractors to produce aluminum strips for those sewing cloth face masks for donation in the community.

The 3 x 1/4” strips will create the noseband for the masks being assembled by volunteers for workers in hospitals, doctors’ offices, construction sites and other industries.

The strips are available in bundles of 100 in the drop box at Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 Training and Apprenticeship School at 2319 Chouteau Ave., Suite 200, St. Louis, MO 63103.

The Union is requesting that volunteers take only what they need in order to help as many people as possible.

  1. Are these strips still available? Do you accept donations for the nose strips? Is there a good time to go for pick up?
    Thank you
    Gloria

  2. Are these nose strips available? I’m making masks and really need some, please. I’ve donated about 150 of the Aries 2.0 to St Louis local hospitals, Drs., etc through the Greater St Louis Million Mask Challenge with my own time and materials. Please let me know. Thank you.

  3. Hi, Are these still available? We are making masks but the metal strips available are too thin to hold their shape, we need some that are around 20 gauge or .8-.9mm, the commercially available ones are .5 mm.
    Thanks, Bill
