RICHARD TRUMKA: “There is a striking contrast between the courage and leadership of America’s front-line workers and the indecisive flailing of our president.”

Last week, Americans heard President Trump acknowledging in his own words (on tape) back in February that the coronavirus is a deadly threat to the American people, in recorded interviews with journalist Bob Woodward detailed in his new book Rage.

“We now know that he clearly understood very early on the threat this pandemic poses to our country, and still he chose to downplay it, calling it a ‘hoax’ and discouraging his officials from ramping up testing,” said Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO.

“More than 190,000 Americans have died from COVID-19, more than any other nation in the world, and many of them were our brothers, sisters and friends in the Labor Movement who continued to serve on the front lines.

“There is a striking contrast between the courage and leadership of America’s front-line workers and the indecisive flailing of our president,” Trumka said. “We must encourage all our members to vote for a change of direction this election year: our lives and livelihoods depend on it.”
