‘At Work at the Newspaper’ panel discussion will look at the unique nature of collective bargaining in the newspaper industry

The St. Louis Mercantile Library at the University of Missouri St. Louis is hosting a pair of entertaining and informative events Oct. 19 and Oct. 21.

On Friday, Oct. 19, Ed Finkelstein, publisher of the Labor Tribune, will chair a panel discussion “At Work at the Newspaper,” examining the unique nature of collective bargaining in the newspaper industry, from 10 a.m. to noon the Mercantile Library building at 1 University Blvd. in St. Louis

The panel discussion is being held in conjunction with the Headlines of History Exhibition

Other guest speakers will include:

• Tim O’Neil, retired St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter.

• John Ebeling, past president of St. Louis Typographical Union Local 8.

• Joe Holleman, reporter/columnist at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Light Refreshments will be served.

Tickets are $12.50 for non-members, or $10 for members.

THE BOOK AS ART

On Sunday, Oct. 21, book artists Peter and Donna Thomas will present “The Book as Art: Making Physical Books by Hand In the Digital Age” from 2-4 p.m. at the library.

Tickets for that event are $15.
