Budrovich Contracting has opened a new division focusing on local and regional commercial, industrial and maritime heat and frost mechanical insulation.

Budrovich was founded in 1947 as an excavation company. Twenty years later, the business expanded to include crain and hoisting services, hence the company’s slogan “Preventing hernias since 1967.”

The company also provides sewer and utility services, storage, equipment repair and transportation.

“Over the years, we have developed longstanding relationships with several general, electrical, mechanical and industrial contractors, and mechanical insulation was a natural extension of the services we offer,” said Eric Struckoff, Budrovich executive vice president. “It’s the same customer base.”

UNION REPRESENTED

The new company, called Budrovich Specialty Group, recently joined Insulators and Allied Workers Local 1.

“We’re excited to partner with such a successful company like Budrovich,” Local 1 Business Manager John Stiffler said. “It will provide a wonderful opportunity for our members to secure work.”

Budrovich Contracting is also a member of the Laborers’ International Union of North America and the International Union of Operating Engineers.

NEW JOBS WITH NEW DIVISION

Strickoff said Budrovich currently employees between 150 and 170 workers. He is hoping to add another 80 workers to the new mechanical insulation division as the workload increases.

Norb McQuire and Gregg Edwards, two veterans in the mechanical insulation industry, have been hired to spearhead the new division. The two have 40 years of combined experience and have successfully managed projects of up to $7.5 million and crews of up to 80 union tradesmen.

WHERE TO FIND THEM

Budrovich is headquartered at 10328 Lake Buff Dr. in Green Park, Mo., which is near Affton in St. Louis County. The company has another location in Southeast Missouri.
