CBTU St. Louis’ 43rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Rights Awards set for Jan. 16

The St. Louis Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) is sponsoring its 43nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Awards on Monday, Jan. 16 at Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 union hall, 2319 Chouteau Ave., in St. Louis. Doors open 5:30 p.m. and dinner begins at 6 p.m. followed by the awards program.

This year’s honorees include:

  • Kevin Fitzgerald, a tireless activist for Labor rights and community justice, retiree of Insulator and Asbestos Workers Local 1; and member of the CBTU St. Louis.
  • Adeyemo “Adey” Sodipo, owner of Claychester Cleaners, trustee at Chaminade College Preparatory School and a board member at Show Me Integrity and the Crime Victims Advocacy Center.
  • Terrolon “Terri” Brown, manager at the Missouri Department of Social Services.

Missouri State Senator Karla May (D-St. Louis) will be the keynote speaker.
