In St. Louis, working families celebrated the defeat of Prop A (“right-to-work”) and vowed to fight on for an increase in the state’s minimum wage (Prop B on the Nov. 6 ballot) and improved transparency in state government (Amendment 1, the CLEAN Missouri amendment).
Thousands of union members and working families turned out for this year’s Labor Day parades celebrating the unity and strength of Organized Labor in St. Louis, Granite City and Belleville.

Leading off the parade, were United Media Guild retiree and former Labor Tribune senior reporter Kevin Madden, UFCW 88 Union Representative Stephanie Brinkley and UFCW Local 655 Shop Steward Cheryl Goodland.
The annual Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council Labor Day Parade in downtown Belleville brought out union locals, music, working families and politicians, ending with the Labor Day Picnic at Hough Park.
