The Great Southwestern Illinois Association of Plumbing-Heating-Colling and Mechanical Contractors (GSW) has awarded five students their annual scholarship award for the 2018 academic year.
The recipients, who received $1,500 each, were Michael Davinory, Alexi Lugge and Jack Lugge of Freeburg, IL; Chandler Douglas of O’Fallon, IL; and Josie Hogue of Maryville, IL.
The cash awards are given to students who are planning to attend or are currently attending a trade school, vocational college or two or four-year institution and are pursuing degrees in a field relevant to the industry, particularly the mechanical trades or construction. The unique aspect of this scholarship is that applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a company representative of a current member of the Association.
The GSW is an organization of union-affiliated contractors dedicated to the promotion, advancement, education and training of the industry for the protection of the environment and the health, safety and comfort of their communities.
