The Administrative, Building and Zoning and Public Works Department employees working for the city of Troy, Illinois recently ratified their first contract with the International Association of Machinists District 9.

The organizing effort led by Organizer Bob Beloit, Business Representative Roy Collins and the District 9 Negotiating Committee brings 18 new members to Machinists Local 313.
The agreement provides for seniority, a grievance procedure, wage increases including longevity pay, personal leave and many other benefits.

Directing Business Representative Mark Conner commended Beloit and Collins, and the Negotiating Committee for a job well done. Most of all, he thanked employees of the city of Troy for their strength and persistence in winning representation.

“Without question, you cannot win an organizing effort or a first agreement without the commitment these Brothers and Sisters made to one another at the beginning of the organizing campaign and throughout the entire negotiating process,” Conner said. “They will definitely be an asset to our Union. The solidarity shown by them and the dedication and support of our own Union leaders will keep us on the path forward, protecting and fighting for Union families.”
