Early voting has started in Madison, St. Clair counties for Illinois’ March 20 primary

EARLY VOTING has begun for Illinois’ March 20 primary election, allowing voters who may have difficulty getting to the polls on Election Day a chance to cast their ballots and make sure their votes are counted.

Early voting for the March 20 primary has begun in the Metro East’s two largest counties, Madison and St. Clair, and satellite voting sites are available.

Early voting allows any registered local voter to cast a ballot when it’s convenient and to avoid long lines on Election Day. It also gives union members who may have difficulty getting to the polls on Election Day an avenue to make sure their vote is counted.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY

In St. Clair County, voters can cast an early ballot at the County Clerk’s office from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The last day for voter registration was Feb. 20.

Three permanent early voting sites are available at the:

• St. Clair County Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the county courthouse at 10 Public Square in Belleville.

• Caseyville Township Office, 10001 Bunkum Road, Fairview Heights.

• O’Fallon Township Office, 801 East State St., O’Fallon.

Weekday hours for the offices during the voting period are:

• 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., March 12-16 and March 19.

Weekend hours are:

• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 17.

• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 18.

MADISON COUNTY

Madison County is also starting with voting in the County Clerk’s office on the second floor at 157 N. Main St., in Edwardsville, during the hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A schedule of early voting hours is planned for three locations:

• Madison County Administration Building, first floor, 157 N. Main St., Edwardsville.

• Scott Bibb Center (formerly St. Patrick’s School), 1004 E. 5th St., Alton.

• Granite City Township Building, 2060A Delmar Ave., Office B, Granite City.

Weekday hours in those locations will be:

• 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., March 12-16 and March 19.

Weekend hours will be:

• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 17.

• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 18.

Early voting is also available at these locations:

• Bethalto Village Hall, 213 N. Prairie – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 12-16.

• Collinsville Senior Citizen Center, 420 E. Main – noon to 6 p.m., March 12-16; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 17.

• Godfrey Village Hall, 6810 Godfrey Road, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 12-16.

• Louis Latzer Memorial Public Library, 1001 Ninth St., Highland – noon to 6 p.m., March 12-16.

• Venice Township Hall, 910 Madison Ave., Madison – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 12-16; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 17.

• Troy City Hall, 116 E. Market – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 12-16.

• Wood River Township Office, 41 S. Ninth St., East Alton – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 12-16.

• SIU Edwardsville, Morris University Center Willow Room – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 12-16.

REGISTRATION

The last day for voter registration before the primary was Feb. 20, but voters can still register and vote during the grace period starting 15 days before the election at the County Clerk’s office or an early voting location, as long as they vote at the time of registration.
