Emerging Labor(1)BUILDING LEADERSHIP – St. Louis Emerging Labor Leaders, young and up-and-coming union activists, got a crash course in activism, political involvement and leadership last week when the St. Louis Labor Council hosted a happy hour at IBEW 1439 Hall. About 30 emerging labor leaders turned out for the event. Speakers included Labor Council President Pat White (pictured), Local 1439 Business Manager Mike Walter, Missouri House Minority Leader and Secretary-Treasurer of the Missouri AFL-CIO Jake Hummel (IBEW Local 1), St. Louis Emerging Labor Leaders President Gordon Smith (CWA 6300) and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, who spoke of the importance of building relationships and credibility. – Labor Tribune photo
