Family and friends of Shawn Richard Joedicke, a Laborers Local 110 member who had worked at Fred Weber Construction, have set up a Facebook fundraiser account to help pay for his funeral expenses.
Joedicke, 45, of De Soto, died unexpectedly July 8, 2021. He did not have life insurance because he was on disability after surviving cancer. Born Feb. 2, 1976, in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of Matt Joedicke, of De Soto, and Kathy Joedicke, of Colorado Springs, Colo.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Erin Garner, who is also a Laborers Local 110 member; two daughters, Katelyn Joedicke, of Hillsboro, and Taylor Joedicke, of De Soto; a son, Mason Joedicke, of De Soto; a sister, Vronica (Marcel) Gordon, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and his grandmother, Venetta Joedicke, of De Soto.
Brother Joedicke is also survived by his parents-in-law, Mark Garner, of Festus, and Mary (Dennis) Holst, of Hillsboro; two brothers-in-law: Mike (Angie Perez) Garner, of Hillsboro, and Cody (Lorene) Holst, of Hillsboro; two sisters-in-law, Patty Johnson, of Hillsboro, and Heather (Chris) Pullen, of Festus; a stepbrother, David Keckley, Jr., of Wilmington, N.C.; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Dave Keckley; and his grandparents, Bonnie Morgan, Bill Brawley and Emil Joedicke.
A celebration of life ceremony was held July 18 at the De Soto Elks Lodge 689 followed by a car cruise through De Soto via Main Street.
