FOUR-YEAR-OLD Granger Roustio, the daughter of IBEW Local 309 member Ben Roustio, was diagnosed with Ganglioglioma cancer in September. She has undergone two surgeries to remove a tumor from her spinal column and is facing a third surgery to correct her left lower leg, ankle and foot.

Granger Roustio, the four-year-old daughter of IBEW Local 309 wireman Ben Roustio, was diagnosed with Ganglioglioma, a cancerous tumor located on her spinal column, on Sept. 8.

Since then, she has had two surgeries for a total of 30 hours to remove 80 percent of the tumor. After her surgery, she spent 35 days in Children’s Hospital learning how to walk and regain her basic motor skills.

Little Granger came home on Nov. 4, and is doing amazing with her recovery. She went back to school on Nov. 15 and is doing as much as she can. She is facing a third surgery to correct her left lower leg, ankle and foot.

The emotional and financial blow the Roustio family is enduring has been life-altering. Ben Roustio is employed by Guarantee Electric Co. in Granite City.

Guarantee has established a GoFundMe account at gofundme.com/f/fight-like-a-kid-grangers-benefit to help offset some of the family’s medical expenses.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Chicken will be served at 6:30 p.m., and the silent auction will be drawn at 9 p.m.

“We cannot thank our dear friends and family enough for all the hard work that has gone into this so far and will continue to go into this,” Brother Roustio said. “We continue to be blown away by everyone’s love and generosity for our family. Please mark it on your calendars. I’m sure it will be a great night!”
