The Rev. Richard H. Creason and State Sen. Gina Walsh will be honored next month at the Robert O. Kortkamp Humanitarian Awards Luncheon.
The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Christy’s Banquet Center, 5856 Christy Blvd., St. Louis.
Father Creason, a labor and community activist and pastor of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in north St. Louis, will receive the Robert O. Kortkamp Humanitarian Award.
Father Creason always offers a hard-hitting, pro-labor homily at the annual Robert O. Kortkamp Memorial Union Labor Mass at the Shrine of St. Joseph north of downtown.
Sen. Walsh (D-Bellefontaine Neighbors), who was elected to the Missouri State Senate in 2012, will receive the Legislator of the Year Award.
Walsh, a retired member of the Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 1, currently serves as president of the Missouri State Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO.
The awards luncheon is sponsored by the Missouri Alliance for Retired Americans.
“Join us as we celebrate Robert O. Kortkamp’s strong personal commitment on behalf of working families, persons with disabilities and older citizens,” said Dave Meinell, president of the Missouri Alliance for Retired Americans, and MOARA Treasurer Ken Bougeno.
Kortkamp, a co-founder of MOARA, was a retired IAM District 9 business representative and secretary-treasurer of the Greater St. Louis Labor Council, AFL-CIO.
Reservations for the awards luncheon must be received by June 1. Call Dave Meinell at (314) 604-1316 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
