Springfield, IL – A pair of bills sponsored by state Representative Jay Hoffman (D-Swansea) would give preference to Illinois manufactured goods when state agencies make purchases.
The bills, House Bills 4574 and 4575, passed the House State Government Committee on 4-2 votes. The bills require that state agencies must purchase Illinois manufactured goods when making any type of purchase of goods.
Other American-made and manufactured goods would be purchased when an applicable Illinois-made product is not available.
Representatives Jerry Costello II (D-Red Bud) and Katie Stuart (D-Edwardsville) signed on as co-sponsors.
