St. Charles MO. – IBEW Local 1 apprentice Jurmain McDonald is a force with which to be reckoned.
McDonald, 25, put in an energizing performance with the St. Louis Amateur Boxing Association Nov. 13, at Frost Supply’s Trade Show and Boxing Event at the Heart of St. Charles Banquet Center.
Vendors showed off their newest wares downstairs while the Amateur Boxing Association held an exciting event upstairs.
McDonald won his fight early in the second round with a TKO, bringing his amateur record to 6 – 1 with four knockouts.
TWO GOALS
McDonald moved from Jefferson City to St. Louis a little over two years ago to pursue two goals.
The first was to start a career. Having learned about the IBEW and its world-class apprenticeship program, he sought out Local 1 in St. Louis, applied and successfully entered the apprenticeship program in September.
The other was to finally pursue boxing, something he’d wanted to do for years. He chose the North County Athletic Association (NCAA) Boxing Gym on Old Hanley Road to help him do just that.
SCHEDULED BOUTS
Jurmain McDonald’s next event will be the St. Louis Amateur Boxing Association’s 2015 Golden Glove Tournament in January at the Heart of St. Charles Banquet Center.
Novice Division Tournaments will be held Jan. 19 & 21. Championships will be held Jan. 23.
Consider gowing and supporting Labor’s own electrifying boxer.
