Collinsville, IL – State Representative Katie Stuart (D-Edwardsville), a stalwart friend of working families, has scheduled two coffee shop meetings to talk to community members about tax relief efforts, the state budget and other issues facing Illinois.

The events are from 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, July 7, at South Main Diner, 421 S. Main, Caseyville; and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 21 at Conway’s Catering, 2112 S. Center, Maryville. The events are free and open to the public.

“I am proud of the work I’ve done, including a bi-partisan measure to provide property tax reform, but I am frustrated that there is much to be accomplished in terms of finding a solution to balancing our budget and getting Illinois’ fiscal house in order,” Stuart said.

“It is important that I remain in touch with constituents and provide opportunities for them to share their ideas with me on how the state can and should move forward,” she said. “I will continue to host informal coffee meetings and Citizens Advisory Committees, in addition to meeting people at their doorsteps, to make sure anyone who wants to talk to me has the opportunity.”
