A celebration of life ceremony for former IBEW Local 1 executive board member David “Dave” M. Sachse is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9.
The event, which includes refreshments and appetizers, will begin at 11 a.m. at the Local 1 union hall at 5850 Elizabeth Ave. in St. Louis. COVID-19 protocols will be followed.
Brother Sachse, of Pompano Beach, Fla., passed away Jan. 13, 2021 at age 63. He was a 40-year, second-generation member of Local 1. His father, Roy Sachse, was the business manager of Local 1 from 1968 to 1975 after serving as a business representative.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Brother Sachse joined Local 1 and took an interest in leadership at the union. After serving on the Local 1 Examining Board, he was appointed to the Executive Board in 2001 and that same year, he was elected as a delegate to the International Convention. His two brothers, Larry and Roy Jr., were also members of Local 1.
Brother Sachse is survived by his brother Larry (Cathy) Sachse, his sister Lisa (Darrick) Sachse-Warfield, several nephews and nieces, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie (nee Buffa) Sachse, and his brother, Roy Sachse, Jr.
