Kenneth “Sonny” Leonard, an Iron Workers Local 392 retiree, died on Oct. 27, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 87.
Brother Leonard, of Belleville, Ill., was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Swansea Moose Lodge, the Elks 664 Fairview Heights and the Fraternal Order of the Shiloh Eagles. He was the former president of the Fairview Optimist Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, nee Husmann, Leonard; a daughter, Lisa (Matt) James; his two sons, Kenneth and John (Traci) Leonard; four grandsons, Cody and Tanner James, John Leonard Jr., and Kenneth Leonard Jr.; and a sister, Bonnie (Glenn) Bischof.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Annabelle, nee McCaleb, Leonard; and two sisters, Carol Hagen and Sue Leonard.
A graveside service with military honors was held Nov. 1 at Evergreen Cemetery in Ava, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation at naaf.org. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at rennerfh.com.
