Cottage Hills, IL – Peggy L. Zimmerman, 66, of Cottage Hills, IL, was a retired staff representative for AFSCME Council 31 and a member of the Greater Madison County Federation of Labor. She died Jan. 28 at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis.
Active in the community, she was also a precinct committeewoman and a member of Southwestern Illinois Democratic Women, AFSCME Retiree Sub-Chapter 59 and Alton VFW 1308 Women’s Auxiliary. She worked most of her life fighting for others’ rights. She also volunteered at the Hope Center.
Peggy Zimmerman was born April 13, 1950 in East St. Louis, the daughter of Raymond and Mary Mildred (Dockins) Roberson.
She is survived by four children and a son-in-law, Dallas Zimmerman of Bethalto, Tammie and Chris Blevins of Moro, Jodi Kaye Zimmerman of Cottage Hills, and Travis Zimmerman of Cottage Hills; plus nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
