IN MEMORIAM: Plumbers & Pipefitters 101’s Roger Wilson

Roger Lee Wilson, a 50-year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 101, died May 11 at his Belleville, Ill., home at age 78.

Brother Wilson was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was an active member of the Downtown Belleville YMCA and the Belleville Moose Lodge. He enjoyed his daily routines of walking and socializing at the YMCA and playing pool at the Moose Lodge several times a week. He also greatly enjoyed both Notre Dame and NFL football.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Sharon K., nee Black, Wilson, whom he married on Sept. 6, 1965, and who died on June 7, 2015; and his parents, Albert and Frances, nee Polito, Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by two sons, Randy (Wendy) Wilson of Highland, Ill., and Keith (Cindy) Wilson of Belleville; four grandchildren, Destin Wilson, Kylie Wilson, Chase Wilson and Zane Wilson; a brother, Wayne (Donna) Wilson of Freeburg, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Barbara (Jerry) Dinges, of Belleville.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service was scheduled to be held with burial at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery in Belleville.
