Members of the Jefferson County Labor Club are hosting their annual Comedy Night Oct. 8 to benefit the Jefferson County Main Event Committee, which raises funds for local charitable foundations.

The event, which begins at 6 p.m., will be held at American Legion Post 283, 910 Montebello Road, Imperial, MO. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and the comedy show starts at 8 p.m. The evening will include prizes and giveaways and music before and after the comedy show.

“It’s always a great night with good food and top-notch comedians who tour the nation,” said Tom Leonard, chairman of the committee and a member of the club’s executive board. “It’s a fun event that allows us to support several charitable causes throughout the year.”

The committee was first established in 2007 as a 501C3 charitable organization to enable the Jefferson County Labor Club to help first responders in need. Since then, the committee has raised $34,250 and expanded its scope of charitable organizations.

Local charities helped by the fund include the Arnold Food Pantry, Backstoppers, Boy Scouts of America, Jefferson County Rescue Mission, Kade’s Playground, MS Society, Peace Pantry, Ride On St. Louis, St. John’s Food Pantry.

Tickets are $50 per person or $400 for a table of eight. To purchase tickets or to make a donation, make checks payable to the “Main Event” and mail them to Wayne Stanley, #4 Main St., Festus, MO 63028.

For more information on the event, call Tom Leonard at 314-520-3159.
