The Jefferson County Labor Club is hosting a pro-Labor candidate training program on Thursday, Oct. 10 for anyone interested in running for office.

The event will from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Arnold Recreation Center at 1695 Missouri State Road in Arnold. Everyone is welcome and attendees will learn how to develop a winning pro-labor campaign from experienced candidates in the field.

Labor Club President Chuck DeMoulin, an IBEW Local 1 business representative, said the program will focus on training for all local offices from city council and school boards to House and Senate seats. He added that the program will be informal, and attendees are encouraged to ask questions.

“There’s a lot of people who don’t have a clue what they have to do to run for office, and we’re going to try and help them,” he said. “We have to get these people in these local positions on school boards and city councils. Those elections are just as important as the presidential election.”
