O’Fallon, MO – Save the date Friday, June 9, and make plans to attend the $5 for the Fight Night at the River City Rascal’s game. A percentage of ticket sales will benefit the $5 for the Fight fund to help union members and their families facing financial hardship, Rascals Sales Associate Dustin Kohler told the Labor Council Executive Board at its April 17 meeting.

The event will also include an opportunity to sign the Citizens’ Referendum petition and rally to push back on Missouri’s “right-to-work” (for less) law.

“We can basically turn this into a union rally night out in O’Fallon,” St. Louis Labor Council President Pat White said.

“That ballpark holds more than 5,000 people and we want to get it filled up,” he said. “We know what ‘right-to-work’ does and we want to use this as an opportunity to get the word out to your members and get the petition signed.”

The Citizens’ Referendum petition, if successful would put Missouri’s “right-to-work” law scheduled to take effect Aug. 28 on hold until Missouri residents have an opportunity to vote on the measure next year. Organizers need more than 140,000 signatures by Aug. 25 to put the measure on the ballot.

Details will be forthcoming on the $5 for the Fight Night. As an added incentive, the Rascals will be selling $1 beers to all union members who attend. The Rascals will be facing the Windy City Thunderbolts.
