AIMING TO HELP – The United Way, union members and their friends are invited to take part in the 7th Annual Labor/United Way Trap Shoot & BBQ Friday, Sept. 12.

The 7th Annual Labor/United Way Trap Shoot & BBQ kickoff to the 2014 United Way Campaign will be Friday, Sept. 12, in East Alton.

The trap shoot starts at 8 a.m. at the Winchester Trap and Skeet Facility at 600 Powder Mill Road (Route 140 and Powder Mill Road) in East Alton. Shooters need to be on the range no later than 10 a.m.

The barbecue will be held after the shoot at the Machinists Hall, 161 North Shamrock in East Alton.

The cost for shooters is $60 and includes two rounds of trap, plus the barbecue.

Shooters will also  have an opportunity to play 5-Station and other "side games" for an additional cost that will be collected at the shoot.

The Winchester Facility provides shotguns and ammo, although shooters may bring their own shotguns.

Sponsorships are encouraged. They range from $125 to $1,000.

Sponsors at each level will be displayed on signs at the range and barbecue.
