East Alton, IL – Bob Masiero, a longtime member of Machinists Local 660 in East Alton, has been hired as the new United Way Labor Liaison in the Metro-East, replacing Terry Biggs, who returned to work at U.S. Steel in Granite City.

Nick Dodson, Labor liaison for Madison County, introduced Masiero to the Greater Madison County Federation of Labor on July 22. Masiero will focus on the Granite City area and be based there, but the three liaisons often team up and help wherever they are needed. The third is Belleville-based Terry Knoth.

Masiero, an Olin Brass retiree, is a 25-year member of Local 660, and is the Local’s recording secretary, serving on the union’s executive board. He also has served on the Madison County Union Label Committee and Service Trades Council.

“Bob is a very genuine individual who I think is going to be a good fit for the United Way,” Dodson said. “He enjoys helping people, he’s down to earth and he can talk to people very easily.”
