UNION BUILDING AND ORGANIZING Training will be offered by the Missouri AFL-CIO and the AFL-CIO Organizing Institute March 21-23 at Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church, 351 Chambers Rd., Riverview, MO.

The Missouri AFL-CIO and the AFL-CIO Organizing Institute are partnering to hold a three-day training for member and staff organizers in the St. Louis area March 21 through 23 at Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church, 351 Chambers Rd., Riverview, MO.

This training focuses on fundamental union building and organizing skills. All unions are encouraged to send their key member activists and staff.

WHAT THEY’LL LEARN

Participants will learn:

  • One-on-one communication skills.
  • How to move workers to take action.
  • How to ID, recruit and develop key workplace leaders.
  • Mapping and charting our workplaces.

SCHEDULE

The training will continue over three days as follows:

  • Thursday, March 21 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday, March 22 – 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 23 – 9 a.m. to noon.

COST

The training cost is $150, payable by mail over the phone or at the training. Checks should be made payable to “AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer” and mailed to:

REGISTRATION

Union members cannot register themselves; participants must be sponsored by their union and registered at tinyurl.com/y3368kl4.

Participants will receive a training guide with additional information within several days of registering. A training guide with an agenda and training materials will be sent to the registered email 10 days prior to the training.
