Tom George, retired president of IBEW Local 1 and former state representative, will be honored with the Missouri

Alliance of Retired Americans’ (MOARA) coveted Robert O. Kortkamp Humanitarian Award at the annual awards luncheon March 27 at noon at Christy’s Banquet Center, 5856 Christy Blvd. in St. Louis.

A 53-year member of IBEW Local 1, George’s storied career includes serving 19 years as president of Local 1; eight years in the Missouri House of Representatives; vice president of the Missouri AFL-CIO, the Greater St. Louis Labor Council and the Missouri State Conference of Electrical Workers; a founding member of the North County Labor Legislative Club; an instructor in the union’s apprenticeship program; trustee on the union’s Joint Labor-Management Committee; vice chairman for the Missouri Health and Educational Facilities Authority; and treasurer of We Are Missouri, the broad coalition of union workers and Missouri citizens who joined together last year to defeat “right-to-work” (Prop A).
The memorial luncheon celebrates the enduring commitment of former St. Louis Labor Council Secretary-Treasurer Bob Kortkamp, a champion of working people and one of the founders of MOARA.

PROGRAM BOOK

A Memorial Program Book will commemorate George’s long service to the Labor Movement. Ad prices are: back cover – $500; inside front/back cover – $400; full page – $350; half page – $225; quarter page – $125; and business card – $50. A congratulations page will list individual names for only $5 per name.
