Event to be held via Facebook Live, Zoom
Missouri Women in Trades (MOWIT) will recognize the hard work and achievements of area tradeswomen and honor unions, contractors and industry members who have gone the extra mile at its 2nd Annual Tradeswomen Awards Gala this Friday, Oct. 30.
The non-profit group, which is dedicated to helping women enter and succeed in the building trades, will hold the event online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be from 6 to 8 p.m. via Facebook Live and Zoom.
The program will include the award ceremony celebrating “Tradeswoman of the Year,” “Union/Apprenticeship Program of the Year” and “Contractor of the Year.”
MOWIT will also present a tradeswoman with a Lifetime Achievement/Legacy Award and recognize new apprentices and those who have journeyed out in their trade.
Last year’s inaugural Blue Collar/Black Tie Tradeswomen Awards Gala sold out with some 400 people in attendance. The black-tie optional event was held at Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 Grand Hall in St. Louis.
Since this year’s event is just one day away from Halloween, it will be called the Boo Collar/Black Tie Tradeswomen Awards Gala. Participants are encouraged to join online in costume, and there will be a costume contest.
You can participate in the event on the group’s Facebook page or join via Zoom.
