The 2018 Godfrey P. Padberg Iron Workers Scholarship winner is Nicholas Howard, the son of Local 396 Journeyman Mike & Lori Howard and mother Pamela Howard.

The Padberg, Corrigan & Appelbaum law firm has proudly represented and supported members of Iron Workers Local 396 since the early 1960’s. After the passing of Godfrey Padberg, the firm established the Godfrey P. Padberg Ironworkers’ Scholarship to honor him and his relationship with the iron workers. Each year the firm awards one $10,000 scholarship to a son or daughter of a Local 396 member to aid in furthering his or her education.

Since its inception in 2003, the firm has awarded a total of $150,000 in scholarships to the children of Local 396 members.

Nicholas Howard, this year’s recipient, earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) in 2009, a Master’s of Education in 2014 and an Educational Specialist degree in 2015, both at UMSL. He is currently working on his Educational Leadership Doctorate at St. Louis University.
