The Coronavirus has crushed plans for the annual North County Labor Club Picnic, a gathering of union members, politicians and candidates held at St. Ferdinand Park in Florissant.

Plans for this year’s event included a tribute to North County Labor Club co-founder Dick Kellett, who passed away earlier this year.

The picnic and the tribute scheduled for June 1, will be rescheduled for a later date.

North County Labor Club President Fred Searcy reminded members and others to be sure to complete their U.S. Census form, and get to know the candidates and issues before they go to the polls on June 2.

COPE-endorsed North County candidates can be found on the club’s website at NorthCountyLabor.com.

“We are facing unforeseen circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” Searcy said. “And our Executive Board has made some tough decision regarding the safety of our members. We know that tough times await us in the future, but with your support we will prevail. Prayerfully we will overcome the virus and get back to a new normal.”
