The birthday of famed Labor activist Mary Harris “Mother Jones” will be celebrated on May Day, May 1, in a live, online event sponsored by the Mother Jones Heritage Project.
The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and will feature Sara Nelson, a dynamic speaker who is international president of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO, and also Daniel Mulhall, Irish ambassador to the U.S.
Toasts will be made from Mother Jones’ birthplace in Cork, Ireland, and from the Mother Jones Monument in Mt. Olive IL. The Mother Jones sculpture project in Chicago will be discussed by the artists.
