Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562’s softball team recently won a local softball tournament, receiving a $960 cash prize, which they then donated it to The Little Bit Foundation in Brentwood.

Local 562 added another $2,500 to the donation – for a total of $3,460 – and members and their families donated clothing and other items to help keep students warm during winter.

The Little Bit Foundation serves impoverished children through school programs that identify youth that may not have a winter coat or might not have a school uniform. Through partnerships with area schools, Little Bit provides for students’ essential needs, having a positive impact on each student’s personal growth and self-esteem.

Since the non-profit began in 2001, an estimated 37,000 students in the city of St. Louis and North County have been helped. Most recently, Little Bit Foundation adopted 13 schools in the Riverview Gardens School District.

Executive Director Rose Hanley thanked the Local 562, saying when you provide the things children need to remove barriers to learning, you give a child hope for the future and empower them to reach their dreams.

“We are committed to having a positive impact on each student’s personal growth and self-esteem,” she said.
