St. Joseph, MO – The thuggery of “right-to-work” proponents hit a new low when four armed men took up station outside the Buchanan County Courthouse to pass out brochures promoting the phony so-called “right-to-work.”

Marshall White of News-Press Now reported the four openly armed men were walking back and forth in front of the Buchanan County Courthouse Thursday, Aug. 10, and approaching people with brochures supporting so-called “right-to-work.”

The four armed men were directly outside the front door by a park bench approaching people, White reported. Two of the men carried clip boards and one had a Notary Public tag pinned on his shirt.

Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department deputies ordered the men to move to the sidewalk on the other side of the courthouse lawn, but their presence still caused concern.

“I was extremely upset about the presence of firearms in front of the courthouse,” said James Nadolski, a local attorney. “Is this what our country is coming to with guns outside the courthouse?”

Nadolski said the man who approached him had a pistol tucked into his waistband.

White wrote that he approached the men to ask what they were doing but they declined to speak.

Harry Roberts, the presiding Buchanan County commissioner, obtained a brochure from one of the men.

It was published by Liberty Alliance, a pro-“right-to-work” PAC for which Gov. Eric Greitens’ campaign finance director has been helping raise money.

The brochure asks readers to get the facts on “right-to-work” and accuses unions of trying to take away freedom from employees and using dirty tricks to overturn Missouri’s “right-to-work” law.

White reported the men had left the courthouse property by late morning.

Apparently, Governor Greitens’ cronies feel like they need to threaten people with guns to get them to support the phony, anti-worker “right-to-work.”

  1. “Right-to-work” is the right to pay you less with no benefits and no job safety and make the workplace dangerous for everyone. We do not need this so the rich can take advantage of us.
