Ferguson – Workers at Christian Care Home, 800 Chambers Road, are picketing their employer over unfair labor practices, calling for fair wages to reduce the nursing home’s turnover rate. The workers, who are represented by SEIU Healthcare Missouri/Kansas, say management has retaliated for workers publicly supporting the union. Negotiations at the facility have been ongoing for four months.
The workers’ primary goal is to try and reduce turnover at the facility so residents have a steady, reliable workforce. According to information provided by the home, Christian Care Home has experienced a 400 percent turnover rate for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in the last three years. Christian Care is one of the lowest paying facilities in the county.
