Sheet Metal Workers SMART Local 36 St. Vincent fundraiser a huge success, despite cancellation of golf tournament

$23,000 raised through direct donations

SUPPORTING THE CHILDREN Sheet Metal Workers (SMART) Local 36 President/Business Manager Ray Reasons presented a check for $20,000 to Carla Monroe-Posey, chief executive officer for the St. Vincent Home for Children, following the union’s 2019 Charity Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but generous sponsors still raised $23,000 to help the home continue its mission helping at-risk youth in need. – Labor Tribune file photo

On the First Monday in May, Sheet Metal Workers SMART Local 36 typically hosts their annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the St. Vincent Home for Children. Due to the Global pandemic, this was not a typical year and the Tournament was cancelled.

However, in the typical fashion Local 36 has come to know, their awesome sponsors came through, and Local 36 was pleased to present over $23,000 to St. Vincent Home for Children, to help them continue their mission.

Serving more than 500 youth each year in residential and outpatient settings, St. Vincent helps adolescents facing significant life challenges through love, security, and therapeutic supports that enable them to improve their lives, their families, and the community.
