Labor Day BannerDeadline is July 11

This year’s Labor Day Parade will be held on Monday, Sept. 1 in downtown St. Louis.

This year’s parade theme is “Unions Built This City!”

The Greater St. Louis Labor Council is encouraging total union participation and a real show of solidarity from St. Louis area unions.

Unions wishing to march in the parade should turn in their entry form to the Labor Council office at 3301 Hollenberg Dr., Bridgeton, MO, 63044, along with the $200 entry fee by July 11 to be included in the line-up placement lottery at the July 15 delegate meeting.

Checks should be made payable to: St. Louis Labor Council Parade.

A minimum of four marshals is required from each local to help assure that the parade runs smoothly. Some marshals may be appointed duties other than marching with their unions to ensure the safety of parade participants and observers.

Labor Day 125Unions celebrating a significant anniversary, such as 25 or 50 years, should call the Labor Council office at 314-291-8666 in advance, in order to receive special front-line placement.

No candy or handouts of any kinds may be thrown from floats. Walkers should walk alongside their local’s float or truck entry to hand out candy or other items to parade observers. This will guard against children running into the street.

Maps, regulations and locations will be provided closer to the parade date.

For more information, contact the Labor Council office at 314-291-8666.
