Cute pup alert! Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 is asking for your help in choosing members’ dogs for its 2022 SMART canine calendar.
Anyone can vote for the dogs by visiting a post on the union’s Facebook page, which contains 83 pups and a short description of each. Any reaction for a dog counts as a vote for that dog.
The top 13 dogs will be featured in the calendar, which will include the cover and 12 months. Proceeds from the sale of the $20 calendars will be donated to the Animal Protective Association of Missouri.
Jeff Bradley, Local 36 director of marketing, came up with the idea of the contest after noticing a similar calendar competition while scrolling through social media. He pitched the idea to Local 36 President/Business Manager Ray Reasons and other officers and got the ball rolling on the contest by requesting submissions in August.
“We’ve received a lot of response from the contest,” Bradley said. “Everyone loves dogs, and we wanted to spread the good will of unions throughout the community in which we live and work.”
Bradley, a former employee of Local 36 signatory contractor Coleman Heating & Sheet Metal, decided to donate the proceeds of the calendar to the Animal Protective Association of Missouri. The association hires Coleman and its Local 36 members for its heating and cooling repairs.
