Charity helps children, families in foster care who are in crisis

An $11,500 donation by Teamster Horsemen Chapter 13 to Butterfly Haven will help the charitable organization for foster children and families in crisis keep its doors open another year.
The St. Louis Teamsters motorcycle association raised the money through its annual poker run the second weekend in September. The event included auctions, raffles and donations from several Teamster locals and businesses.
‘A BEAUTIFUL BLESSING’
Butterfly Haven Executive Director Maria A. Larsen called the gift a “beautiful blessing.”
“Thank you for your support of our mission,” she wrote on the organization’s Facebook page. “Your giving is allowing us to stay open another year to help children impacted by foster care and families in crisis.”
Jay Krueger, president of Teamster Horsemen Chapter 13, along with several members of the chapter, presented Larsen with the check last month in front of the organization, located in North County.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
“This is the second year in a row we’ve donated to Butterfly Haven, and we’re planning to donate the proceeds of next year’s event to the organization as well,” said Krueger, a trustee on Teamsters Local 688’s executive board. “Our goal is to help out our neighbors and make a difference.”
Butterfly Haven serves families within St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Lincoln County and Jefferson County in Missouri. Butterfly Haven’s staff consists of volunteers who have a heart for children and families in need.
