Wentzville, MO – UAW Local 2250 will hold its 13th annual Support Our Soldiers (S.O.S.) Poker Run Sunday, Sept. 23 to benefit the CHAMP Assistance Dog program for veterans.

Ron Lane, chairman of Local 2250’s Veterans Committee, said many of his union’s members are veterans, and some are on active duty or in the Reserves or National Guard. He said the CHAMP service dogs can help veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder or other physical disabilities.

“CHAMP service dogs are raised, trained and placed with veterans in the St. Louis area as well as other people in need,” Lane said. “The dogs can help veterans boost self-esteem and become more independent inside their homes and in the community.”
