Union-friendly Alberici Constructors has donated $500,000 through its charitable foundation to be shared by the region’s three health care systems – BJC HealthCare, Mercy and SSM Health – to support frontline workers responding to the COVID-19 crisis in our region.

“We are blessed in the St. Louis region with several world class health systems,” said Greg Hesser, president of Alberici Constructors. “The frontline workers in these systems have significant challenges ahead of them, and Alberici wants to do our part to help those who will be taking care of our friends, neighbors and families.”

John Alberici, board chairman of the Alberici Foundation, is encouraging everyone to join the foundation in lending a hand to those who need assistance during this challenging time.

Jeff Johnston, Mercy East Region president, said the generosity of the St. Louis region never ceases to amaze him.

UNITING AS A REGION
“We’re appreciative of Alberici taking the lead and encouraging others to support our courageous caregivers on the front lines of a health care fight unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetimes,” he said. “We’re uniting as a region, and we will come out of this stronger than ever.”

Rich Liekweg, BJC HealthCare president and CEO, said his team is grateful for the generous support of Alberici and the entire community.

“Our teams are on the front lines providing hope and exceptional care to our patients and communities, leading the way through this global pandemic,” he said. “Together, our health care systems and those on the front lines will help our patients, communities and each other through this.”

Candace Jennings, president of SSM Health St. Louis, said challenging times like these often bring out the best in people and organizations.

“We thank our partners at Alberici for so generously supporting our efforts to bring healing to the community,” she said.
