Union tradeswomen contributing diverse skills to Angad Arts Hotel project

MAKING A SHOWING in the renovation of the long-vacant Missouri Theatre as the new luxury Angad Arts Hotel at 634 N. Grand Ave. in St. Louis, about a dozen local union tradeswomen are working on the project. Celebrating their numbers are (front row, from left) Sheet Metal Workers Local 36’s Rochelle Bonty, Iron Workers Local 396’s Sierra Fox, Laborers Local 42’s Nicole Anderson, and IBEW Local 1’s Rebekah Young. In the back row (from left) are Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562’s Theresa Hughes, Carpenters Local 97’s Alean Kennedy and Laborers Local 110’s Kathy Russell. “This job has more women working together than any other I’ve experienced in almost 30 years, and we’re just a few months in,” said Russell, a Paric Corp. laborer foreman. “It’s so encouraging. I’m hoping to see even more women as the job progresses.”  – Photo courtesy of Kathy Russell
