Belleville, IL – Teamsters Local 50 and Operating Engineers Local 520 will bring trucks and join in the first annual “Touch a Truck” event, a free community activity where kids can see, touch and interact with trucks of all shapes and sizes.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 1, at Belleville East High School, 2555 West Blvd. in Belleville, IL. A food truck will be on hand.

Hosting are state Rep. Jay Hoffman (D-Swansea), state Rep. Latoya Greenwood (D-East St. Louis) and state Sen. Christopher Belt (D-Cahokia.) The Laborers are also helping pay for the event.

“The Touch a Truck event brings together both public and private entities, allowing children and teens the opportunity to explore vehicles of all types: public safety, agriculture, construction, utility, transportation, among others,” organizers said.

“This community event is free to the public for kids to see, touch, and interact with trucks of all shapes and sizes. After the event was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the legislators are excited to give back to the community and provide families with a unique, interactive experience.”
