The Warren County Labor Club is hosting a food drive for students in the Wright City R-11 School District at its Feb. 2 Labor Club meeting.

The Club is asking members to bring items needed for the district’s Operation Backpack effort, which helps fill the gap by providing backpacks of nutritious, non-perishable meals to be eaten by students over the weekend when resources may be limited.

Every child deserves a quality education, no matter their zip code or what’s in their parent’s wallet,” said club member Michelle Whitley. “We hope the community will join us in the effort.”

Specific items needed include:

  • Instant oatmeal packets.
  • Pop Tarts.
  • Jelly (squeezable bottles).
  • Soup.
  • Macaroni & cheese.
  • Peas, corn and green beans.
  • Granola and cereal bars.
  • Fruit snacks.
  • Pudding, fruit and applesauce cups.
  • Boxed raisins.
  • Individually wrapped crackers or cookies.

Food items or financial contributions may be dropped off at the Club’s Feb. 2 meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Ruiz-Castillo Mexican Restaurant, 223 N. Service Road, Wright City.

For those unable to make the Feb. 2 meeting, items and monetary donations may be dropped off at any Wright City school or the central office. For more information, email allisonlconn@gmail.com or cari.biggs@wrightcity.k12.mo.us.
