When the city suspends your fire fighters, make lemonade

University City – A lemonade stand set up recently by concerned University City children and their parents raised over $1,2,00 toward efforts to support the families of five Local 2665 fire fighters who were suspended for three months without pay for exercising their off-duty free speech rights during a recent political campaign. Recent fundraising efforts have included a trivia night, motorcycle ride and the donation of overtime pay from fellow fire fighters who are working extra shifts to make up for the lost manpower. All told, supporters have raised $47,000 towards their $81,000 goal.
