SEIU Missouri/Kansas State Council endorses St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner, Treasurer Tishaura Jones in August primary

St. Louis The SEIU Missouri/Kansas State Council has endorsed Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner and Treasurer Tishaura Jones in the August Democratic primary. The SEIU Missouri/Kansas State Council represents more than 2,500 janitors, healthcare and home care workers, nursing home workers, adjunct faculty, state workers and more in the city of St. Louis.

“St. Louis working families need a circuit attorney we can trust who will continue to do the hard, difficult work of fixing our broken criminal justice system,” said SEIU janitor Latrina Dorsey. “Together, we will continue to fight alongside Circuit Attorney Gardner so City residents – Black, White or brown – are treated fairly and with respect and dignity.”

“While wealthy special interests and certain politicians try to divide us for their own benefit, Kim Gardner is a leader who unites us around a common vision for much-needed criminal justice reform in our city,” said SEIU healthcare worker Caprice Nevils. “SEIU members are ready to get out the vote for Kim Gardner this summer.”

CITY TREASURER TISHAURA JONES
“Time after time, Treasurer Jones has stood with working families fighting for a brighter future and a better city,” said SEIU janitor William Shead. “When janitors came together for a strong new contract, she marched alongside us in the streets. “Treasurer Jones has used her office to fight for the transformative change our city needs, and SEIU members are coming together – across racial lines and different backgrounds – to support her.”

SEIU’s endorsement of Jones in the Democratic Primary comes on the heels of endorsements from the St. Louis Labor Council, Democracy for America, State Rep. Rasheen Aldridge (D-St. Louis), NARAL Missouri and more.
