Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council seeking nominations for Labor Awards

Belleville, IL – The Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council is now accepting nominations its 56th Annual Labor Awards Banquet.

The Labor Council is seeking nominations for: Labor Man of the Year, Labor Woman of the Year, Labor Volunteer of the Year, Community Service Award, and the George Meany Scouting Award.

This year’s Labor Man of the Year award will go to a member of the building and construction trades.

Ideal candidates for the awards will have demonstrated leadership, service and solidarity to their union brothers and sisters through their actions and words. Nominations should include as much information about the candidate as possible, including their number of years in the union; offices held, if any; involvement in civic, fraternal and veterans’ organizations; church activities and any other information that will help the committee in making their selection. Please include the nominee’s phone number so they can be contacted.

Recipients will be honored at the 56th annual Labor Awards Banquet Aug. 29 at the Bel-Air Bowl Banquet Center in Belleville, Ill.
